About Chapel of the Good Shepherd

Our Mission

...is simple: To follow the Good Shepherd, Jesus.

Knowing that we need feeding and leading, Jesus invites us to follow Him. He compares His followers to a flock of sheep, and gave His life to save and protect us, and to watch over us as a community.

As we follow Him, we're growing together, learning how to follow Him better, as we grow together.

The psalmist David declared, "The LORD is my Shepherd"

Jesus is our Shepherd, and we hope that you would join us!!

Our History

The Chapel of the Good Shepherd organized in September of 1973, and held its first service in the Clifford Fire Station.

In September of 1975, three acres of land was given to the young congregation, and they broke ground for building that October.

In October of 1976, members, guests and pastors of several neighboring churches were among 225 attenders present for the dedication services of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd's new worship and education facility. The Fellowship Hall was later added in 1986.

Our "Healthy & Happy" principles

Adapted from "Comeback Churches",  we're committed to the Biblical criteria of the a New Testament church as outlined in Scripture:

  • Scriptural Authority. God's Word is our only guide as followers of Jesus.
  • Biblical Leadership. The positions of leadership roles and responsibilities are clear in the New Testament - Biblical leadership is God's plan for the church.
  • Preaching & Teaching. Followers of Jesus need to hear, read, study, apply and meditate on God's Word, which contains the truth of the good news.
  • Ordinances. The early church was devoted to the "breaking of bread", or the Lord's Supper, and to "baptize the nations", faithfully including baptism of new followers of Jesus.
  • Covenant Community.  The "flock" of Jesus is called to be a healthy and happy community - together! They shared doctrinal convictions and behaviors, prayed together, helping those needing help and met the physical and financial needs of each other.
  • Mission. Followers of Jesus are called to the sole mission of sharing the good news that eternal rescue is found in Jesus alone.
